The Westwood – Suburban Hills neighborhood borders Starmount to its north, while John Knox Road serves as its southern border. North Meridian Road is its eastern border, and it is bordered to the west by the Tallahassee Mall.

The Tallahassee Mall, which is adjacent to the neighborhood, attracts shoppers from all over the greater city area. It is the oldest enclosed mall in the city, and it offers an AMC Theatre, Shoe Carnival, Guitar Center, Ross Dress for Less, Belk, and Barnes & Noble.

The Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science, which offers permanent and rotating educational exhibits, is two and a half miles south of Starmount. The Museum of Florida History is three miles to its south. The Le Moyne Center for the Visual Arts, Riley House Museum, and Old Capitol Museum, are all approximately two and a half miles to its south.
