Situated northwest of downtown Tallahassee, Florida is the heavily wooded neighborhood of Forrest Heights / Holly Hills. Amos P. Godby High School, Astoria Park Elementary School and Springwood Elementary School are some of the public schools nearby to Forrest Heights/Holly Hills. There are two major universities in the Tallahassee area – Florida A&M University (FAMU), and Florida State University, the home of the Florida State Seminoles.
To the northeast of Forrest Heights / Holly Hills off of Route 8 are several apartment complexes. One of them, “The Commons,” caters to college students who are looking for off-campus housing. It is a gated community and has bus routes from there to all of the universities. The Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center is the home of the Florida State Seminole’s basketball, concerts, Broadway shows, family shows, and other special events. The facility can seat 13,000 people and has an arena-view restaurant – the Spotlight Grille. Restaurant reservations are required when events are scheduled in the arena.
