China Grove Apartments for Rent
Home is just two miles east of downtown Tallahassee for residents of the China Grove neighborhood. Lush trees and landscaped yards define home sites with well-kept ranch-style one-story homes. Families can walk their children to the neighborhood grade school, Frank Hartsfield Elementary school, less than a mile away. Shopping options are close to the community with Albertsons and Wynn Dixie grocery stores, and over 100 stores and entertainment sites available in the Tallahassee Mall.
Tom Brown Park, located just off of Capital Circle, is an ideal site for family recreation. There is something for everyone, with 12 lighted tennis courts, outdoor racquetball courts, a fitness trail, nature trail, a dog park, Frisbee golf, a lake for kayaking, picnic shelters, and a children’s playground. It also has mountain bike trails that are used for the Florida State Championship BMX bicycle trials. Seasonal events such as local band performances and fireworks are held in the park and even include food vendors.
The downtown area nearby provides the opportunity for a walking tour of the historic section of the city. The Calhoun Street Historic District contains 14 different historic buildings within a 4 block area from Calhoun Street, formerly known as “the Gold Dust Street” to Melborn Street. Visitors enjoy antebellum mansions and quaint cottages from Tallahassee’s past. Your tour can include the striking Old Capitol building, gleaming white in the sun. The restored majestic dome earned the building it’s title as the “Pearl of Capitol Hill.” Free tours allow viewing of an eight room exhibit displaying Florida’s political history, including period furniture and artifacts. The downtown experience will be enhanced with a ride on the Old Town Trolley north of the capital to the Governor’s Mansion at Adams and Brevard Street. This building has 18th and 19th century antiques and collectibles.
