Rockledge Apartments for Rent(show city information)
What do you get when you mix the mystery of the Old South with the modernity of space exploration and aviation? Rockledge, Florida! As the oldest incorporated city in Brevard County, Rockledge was founded in 1887. It started out as a rural area of citrus groves, a thriving industry that helped the area to grow.
The groves may be nearly gone, but Rockledge — named after the rocky ledges of coquina rock that line the Indian River — replaced its former agriculture-based economy for the technology and aerospace is it known for today. Rockledge is just south of the Kennedy Space Center, and many residents are employed by the space industry. Construction and landscaping also play a major role in the local economy. Small businesses, retail, tourism, and the service industry round out the city’s economic landscape.
With its long history, Rockledge has a few legends — and a few ghosts! Ashley’s Restaurant, a local hotspot, is supposedly haunted — visit and see what you think!
