The City of Destin is located on the peninsula that separates the Choctawhatchee Bay from the Gulf of Mexico and is known for its white-sand beaches and fishing. The area is known as Florida’s Emerald Coast. The Indian Bayou community is on the eastern end of the city in the 32541 zip code and is included in Okaloosa County.
Country Club Road and Indian Bayou Drive create the southern border for the Indian Bayou neighborhood. Indian Bayou curves and becomes the eastern boundary and then the northern border. Country Club Drive East and Creek Court provide the western boundary. The northern area of the community is set against an inlet from the Choctawhatchee Bay and a waterway from this runs along most of the eastern border as well. Residences in the development are not overcrowded and have mature trees adding privacy and shade.
The Emerald Coast Children’s Community Theater is on Holly Street. The Destin Elementary School is at the corner of Kelly Street and Beach Drive. Residents do not have to drive far to access recreation. The Henderson Beach State Park is just to the south. The Kelly Plantation Golf Club and the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort are minutes away as well.
Highway 98 runs along the southern coastline. A Wal-Mart Super Center is just minutes away for Indian Bayou residents and the Shores Shopping Center is across from Destin Harbor.
