Governor’s Cottages lies along Governor’s Drive, off University Parkway. This is a smartly designed new area of cottages of varying sizes and styles. Continuity is achieved by the white picket fences defining each yard. Some mature trees were left in place during construction to give a settled feeling. It is the kind of neighborhood that invites a quick morning walk along the sidewalks.

Governor’s Cottages neighborhood is also quite centrally located to take advantage of all that Pensacola and the surrounding areas have to offer. With the famous white sand beaches of Santa Rosa Island a short drive south, and a huge protected watershed to the east, residents are minutes away from top recreational areas.

Governor’s Cottage is also within a quick drive to the most historic areas of Pensacola. For example, Plaza Ferdinand VII was named a National Historic Landmark in 1960. At this site, General Andrew Jackson named Pensacola the capital of the Florida Territories. Pensacola Lighthouse, built in 1859, is another attraction and special events are held throughout the year. The Ghost Hunts here are especially fun.

Golf courses, both public and private, are nearby. There are four private courses at A. C. Reed at the Naval Air Station. Osceola Municipal Golf Course is a popular public course.

West Florida University and Pensacola Junior College are very close by. Several other schools in the area include Troy University at Pensacola and Pensacola Sate College.

As might be expected in a busy part of town, there are a number of retail centers, offering a full range of stores, restaurants and services. Cordova Mall is considered the most upscale, with a regional favorite Belk’s Department Store, Coldwater Creek and two Dillard’s Stores. University Mall has JC Penney’s Sears and Belk’s.
