Gatewood Apartments for Rent
Most of the homes in the Gatewood neighborhood are small ranch-style brick homes along quiet streets, shaded by live oak trees. While the neighborhood may seem fairly typical upon first glance, it is actually one of the best situated for its convenience to recreational and retail areas. It is bound by East Johnson Avenue along the north and Tippin Avenue to the west, in zip code 32514.
A mile south is I-10 and just east is Scenic Drive, both providing quick access to the huge recreation area, Escambia Bay and Escambia River Wildlife Management Area. Six spring-fed rivers delight kayakers and canoeists. There are several boat launch facilities, including Archie Glover and Mystic Springs. Swamphouse Marina on North Davis Highway is the closest to the Gatewood area.
But the Pensacola area is abundant with recreational areas and blessed with a dozen state parks, municipal parks, protected areas, and national sites.
History lovers will find plenty to explore, including one place quite close by – the Archaeological Museum on the campus of the University of West Florida. It is associated with the Archaeological Trail of significant places around Pensacola.
A great historic district covers many blocks of downtown Pensacola. The T. T. Wentworth, Jr. Museum, Seville Square, Plaza Ferdinand VII, and the lighthouse and forts along Pensacola Bay detail the long story of this area.
For the residents of Gatewood, entertainment and shopping could not be more convenient than the busy area about a mile south. Clustered in this area are movie theaters, restaurants, Cordova Mall, and Pensacola Junior College, which brings a number of events for community enjoyment. Many national retailers can be found both within the mall and along the main corridors. There is also a Walmart near Gatewood for everyday needs.
