History lovers will find plenty to explore, including one place quite close by – the Archaeological Museum on the campus of the University of West Florida. It is associated with the Archaeological Trail of significant places around Pensacola.

A great historic district covers many blocks of downtown Pensacola. The T. T. Wentworth, Jr. Museum, Seville Square, Plaza Ferdinand VII, and the lighthouse and forts along Pensacola Bay detail the long story of this area.

For the residents of Gatewood, entertainment and shopping could not be more convenient than the busy area about a mile south. Clustered in this area are movie theaters, restaurants, Cordova Mall, and Pensacola Junior College, which brings a number of events for community enjoyment. Many national retailers can be found both within the mall and along the main corridors. There is also a Walmart near Gatewood for everyday needs.
