Belle Chasse Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Small, older homes on large, heavily-wooded lots, create an almost rural atmosphere to the Pensacola neighborhood of Belle Chase. The boundaries of Belle Chase are Parazine Street and Lode Star Avenue, a few blocks north of I-10 and little over a mile from the shores of Escambia Bay. The neighborhood is very near the University of West Florida and the mall at University Town Center, both within walking distance.
The Escambia River Wildlife Management Area, a major recreation area, is a popular boating and swimming area. With thousands of acres of watershed, the cool, clear waters attract many locals and visitors. Boat ramps are provided and in-season hunting is allowed.
Two public golf courses are a short drive to the south. Marcus Pointe and Osceola Municipal Golf Course offer good courses. Scenic Hills Country Club is north, at the edge of the university campus.
The John R. Jones, Jr. Athletic Complex at Airway Oaks Park offers one of the best youth programs in the city. The park and complex have 12 youth ball fields, a playground and picnic area.
A good area for taking in the historic sties of “Old Pensacola” while enjoying the waterfront district lies just south. At the end of South Palafox Street, the pier is lined with fishing and diving charter businesses and restaurants with a great harbor view.
A short walk from the pier is Seville Square and Historic Pensacola Village. Historic churches, homes, and small museums can be found here. Pensacola Museum of Art and The T. T. Wentworth, Jr. Museum along with small galleries and government buildings make this a great place to spend an afternoon.
