Lakeland, Florida is fittingly named for the multitude of lakes that provide various recreational activities and scenic beauty to the city. The largest of these lakes is Lake Parker, located to the northeast of downtown. Also situated in this area on the west side of the lake is the Pinehurst neighborhood. Centered around Pinehurst Street, this residential community is ideally located to many amenities offered in and around Lakeland.
Pinehurst residents are only minutes away from the lake and Lake Parker Park. Anglers can enjoy a day on the lake fishing or fish from the banks at the park. Boat ramps are provided at the park for easy lake access. Along with the various water activities, the park offers athletic fields, picnic areas, scenic walking trails, playground equipment, and places to walk the family dog.
Within walking distance to the south of Pinehurst is Simpson Park. This scenic facility offers athletic fields, playground, and a community center. Residents can utilize the game room, weight rooms, and computer area provided in the community center. The Lakeland Library is located at the southeast corner of the park.
Downtown Lakeland is less than three miles to the south of Pinehurst. The downtown area hosts the Polk Theatre and Polk Museum of Art. A popular downtown destination is Munn Park where residents can safely walk through the picturesque park along the various paved paths. The water fountains and natural greenery offer the perfect backdrop for special events.
Less than a mile to the north of the community is North Lakeland Elementary School. Lakeland High School is about two miles to the southeast and Kathleen High School is approximately one mile to the southwest. Sleepy Hill Middle School is located about two miles to the northwest and Lawton Chiles Middle Academy is about a 10 minute drive to the south.
