North Kissimmee is a neighborhood of small older homes located quite close to shopping, entertainment, and recreational areas. Some parts of the neighborhood have sidewalks, making it easy to take a quick walk or run errands. A small retail center across North Main Street, the west boundary road, has a Family Dollar Store, and several local eateries are just north.
North Kissimmee is bound by Benita Street, East Vine Street, and North Main Street near Osceola Campus. It located between two medical facilities, Florida Hospital-Kissimmee, and Osceola Regional Medical Center.
Vine Street Square is a convenient place to find national and regional restaurants, including Outback Steakhouse and Domino’s Pizza. There is a Target Store here, as well as various specialty retailers and service providers.
North Kissimmee is centrally located to many recreational sites. About a mile south is the Kissimmee Civic Center. The civic center brings in a variety of shows year round, including sporting events. It also houses a fitness center and gym. A public golf course, Kissimmee Golf Club, is located near the municipal airport and provides very affordable play on one of the town’s oldest courses. A newer course is close by, as well — the Kissimmee Oaks Golf Club.
About a mile east along East Vine Street is the Osceola Campus of Valencia Community College. At the north end of the campus is Makinson Aquatic Center, with lap lanes and children’s water park.
A favorite entertainment spot is Old Town Kissimmee. It’s a lively place with live bands, free concerts, car shows, amusement rides, shopping and dining.
Football fans may enjoy taking in a spring training session of the Houston Astros. They train at Osceola County Stadium, also the site of year-round amateur baseball events.
