Central Florida’s Lake Eustis is one of the many lakes in Lake County surrounded by residential communities. The city of Eustis, once named for the lake, is on the east shore of the lake. This is one of the older areas of Florida dating back to 1877, with a lovely, historic downtown. Several sites are included in the National Register of Historic Places including Clifford House, Gould Hyde Norton House, Eustis Commercial Historic District, Moses J. Taylor House, and the Alice McClelland Memorial Bandshell.
The residents of Eustis Heights appreciate the short walking distance to the lake and the downtown area. Lakeshore Boulevard borders the west of the neighborhood, Lake Hermosa on the south, David Walker Drive on the east and Clay Boulevard, Eustis Road and Forest Lane on the north.
Shopping is convenient at the Grove Square Shopping Center, Wal-Mart, Albertson’s and Publix all a short distance to this residential area. Schools in the community are Eustis Heights Elementary, Eustis Middle and High Schools.
Early evening is a popular time to visit Ferran Park and the one-quarter mile lakefront walkway along the shores of Lake Eustis which provides a panoramic view of the lake. The unrestricted view of sunsets over the lake is breathtaking. The park also has walking paths, benches, and a restored sea wall which leads to the Mediterranean architecture of the Alice McClelland Bandshell at the north end of the park. A playground, picnic tables, two heated pools in the Eustis Aquatic Center, four gazebos and 20 boat slips are also in the park. The Eustis Heights neighborhood is within walking distance to stores, shops, restaurants, an art museum, hospital facilities, community theater and the city government offices.
