Isle of Palms is a recreational community of around 500 homes located between Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Being just one mile away from the ocean, it offers its residents ample opportunities for recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and kayaking. The community is also near restaurants, schools, retail outlets, sports complexes, playgrounds, and parks.
Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy living close to Gonzales Park, which offers picnic areas, a playground, two athletic fields, and basketball courts. Castaway Island Preserve, located off San Pablo Road between Beach and Atlantic Boulevard, boasts nature trails, picnic areas, and a floating canoe and kayak launch. Wingate Park, off of South Penman Road, encompasses 16 acres of softball fields, football fields, T-ball fields, and a dog park comprising an off-leash large-dog area and a small-dog area. Golf enthusiasts can happily swing their golf clubs at the City of Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, located right next to Wingate Park.
Parents of school-age children have access to a variety of schools scattered throughout the community. Foundation Academy is open to students of elementary, middle, and high school grades, and is found off San Pablo Road. Discovery Montessori School is a short drive away on South 15th Street. Jacksonville Beach Elementary School is less than two miles away off of South 10th Street. The Broach School, which offers classes from kindergarten through 12th grade, is off South 12th Street. Florida State College of Jacksonville, Jacksonville University, and University of North Florida are also located nearby.
