The Madison Park neighborhood is close the to the professional services corridor of Northwest Forty-third Street. More than 30,000 workers populate this area each day for employment purposes, and as a result, this is a thriving area for retail, dining, and other service-based businesses as well.
Gainesville itself has won distinction as one of the healthiest cities in the United States. A recipient of the Gold Well City award, the effort was championed by the Chamber of Commerce, Shands Health Care and 60 percent of the local workforce.
The Madison Park community is served by the Albert “Ray” Massey Westside Recreation Center, built in 1972. Its amenities include baseball diamonds; a skate park; racquetball, basketball and tennis courts; and miles of trails for walking and running. Also part of this center is the H. Spurgeon Cherry Pool, often referred to as the Westside Pool, for swimming.
In addition to the Westside Center, Madison Park residents have access to the city’s 40 parks, nature activities including weekend and summer programs, and Ironwood Golf Course. The city also provides after-school and senior programs.
Like most neighborhoods in the city, Madison Park is served by Gainesville Regional Transit bus service. It is within easy traveling distance of the University of Florida and Santa Fe College.
