River Heights is on the north side of Cocoa in Brevard County, just south of Bennett Causeway. The community sits between Indian River Drive and Highway 1.
The neighborhood is close to shopping and amenities at Cocoa Commons, and its location provides convenient access to Merritt Island and Patrick Air Force Base. Both the Melbourne/Titusville and Cocoa/Rockledge bus lines make nearby stops. The Indian River is just a short stroll from the homes at River Heights, and the shore has multiple docks and fishing access points.
Public education is provided by the Brevard County School District. Children attend Cambridge Elementary Magnet School, Clearlake Middle School, and Cocoa High School. Parochial schools in the area include Bethel Christian Academy and Christian Heritage Academy. College students can easily commute to Brevard Community College, which is just down the road.
Religious services in the area can be found at a variety of churches. The closest library is the central Brevard Library, which offers children’s programs, as well as free internet and computer access.
Residents who enjoy the beach can swim, surf, or sunbathe at nearby Cocoa Beach. The Cocoa Beach pier hosts entertainment, and it has an open-air restaurant and tiki-bar.
Those who want to experience the more natural side of Florida will want to visit the Merritt Island National Wildlife Preserve or the Cape Canaveral Protected Seashore. Both spots are excellent for wildlife viewing and capture the allure of the undeveloped Florida coastline. Orlando is also just under an hour away, residents can take a trip to Disney World or SeaWorld without the need for overnight accommodations.
