Port Richey is a luxuriant coastal community about 40 miles northwest of Tampa and 25 miles north of Clearwater. It is considered a suburban city within the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metro area. It is just north of New Port Richey and just south of Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park.
Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park is a great destination for outdoor activities. The small springs are deceptively deep at an astonishing 320 feet. The park features a picnic area and a hiking trail and is a popular boating and fishing destination. Wildlife viewing and bird watching are also popular – the park is home to West Indian manatees, raptors, alligators, shore birds, and many others.
Rent an apartment in Port Richey and not only will you enjoy balmy sea breezes, afternoons on white sandy beaches, and all types of activities from swimming and beachcombing to windsurfing, boating, and water skiing, but you’ll also have a front-row view of Florida’s Oldest Boat Parade. The Chasco Fiesta takes place in March along the Pithlachascotee River, right through downtown Port Richey. The parade typically features a theme and boats compete for a prize with their decorated boats.
