In 1925, architect Addison Mizner was commissioned to design a resort community. Boca Raton, Florida catered to those seeking the white sand, crystal clear water, and palm trees of south Florida. The Cloister Inn, Mizner’s exclusive hotel, is now the Boca Raton Resort and Club. It remains a major landmark of the city. Mizner also designed the Town Hall, which today houses the Boca Raton Historical Society.
Floridians often joke about where to go on vacation, and residents of Boca Raton enjoy that resort town atmosphere year-round. Beautiful weather, endless beaches, and great parks are just the beginning. Downtown Boca is a shopping mecca, with exclusive boutiques, shops, and frequent street parties. Mizner Park offers a Spanish-style courtyard with over 40 shops. There’s also a mall and several plazas to choose from.
Restaurants are also plentiful and range from seafood to steak houses and from cafes to fish markets. When you aren’t on the beach, Boca is famous for its arts — visit the Boca Raton Museum of Art and the Center for the Arts at Mizner Park.
