The California neighborhood of Serramonte is located on the border of Daly City and Coloma. In 1963, the development of Serramonte became one of the largest construction projects in California. Today, the combination of free parking and lower state taxes lure locals and San Francisco residents to the area. The Serramonte Center, opened in the 1970s, draws in shoppers from all over the Bay Area.
Despite its reputation as a shopping destination, Serramonte is mostly a residential, middle-class neighborhood filled with houses, condominiums, and apartments.
Serramonte shares Daly City’s major transportation hub. Residents and tourists have access to BART, MUNI, buses, and SamTrans. For air travel, the San Francisco International Airport is nearby.
