Sea Cliff Apartments for Rent

Hollywood celebrities, Silicon Valley mega-executives, and star athletes all call this upscale neighborhood between China Beach Park and the Presidio home. Sea Cliff is only three blocks wide, running from California Street in the south to the edge of San Francisco’s outer bay. Homes are terraced down the hill so that even the ones on California Street have views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Marin Headlands, and the Pacific Ocean.

The homes on the northern side of Sea Cliff Avenue have backyards fronting the craggy shoreline. Glass is the material of choice for parts of homes facing the sea. Most homes were built prior to 1939 and favor a Spanish-style architecture. This is one of the few places in San Francisco where a photographer can take a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay framed in palm trees. Sea Cliff is an artsy, sophisticated, and pedestrian-friendly area.

Pathways lead down to China Beach Park in the west and into the Presidio on the eastern edge. The grounds of the Presidio have had a recurring role in the Star Trek movies and TV shows throughout the years, most notably as the campus of Starfleet Academy. Baker Beach on the western edge, and Mountain Lake Park on the southern end near the Presidio Golf Course, both offer off-leash dog parks. In 1962, the Presidio was named a National Historic Landmark.

The Katherine Delmar Burke School and the Kittredge School are within Sea Cliff’s borders. South of California Street are Presidio Middle School and George Washington High School. Churches, including St. Peter’s Episcopal and Lincoln Park Presbyterian, are all south of the neighborhood. Most of the shops and restaurants are along Clement Street and Geary Boulevard, but there is a boutique pet store, Cal’s Pet Supply, located on California Street.
