This beautiful neighborhood in southeast Sunnyvale is named for its popular park, Raynor Park. It is well named, for Raynor Park is one of the better parks in Sunnyvale. Sporting an open field, multiple children’s play areas, horseshoe pits, and a skating rink, Raynor Park is often visited by residents even from nearby neighborhoods.
There are quite a number of interesting places to try out in the immediate area. Cupertino Square Shopping Center is less than two miles away, and Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center is within walking distance. When you want to venture out of the neighborhood, Interstate 280 is less than a mile away, so you really don’t have to be restricted to those stores that are close to Raynor Park.
The schools in the Raynor Park area are especially good. Peterson Middle School is a particular standout, and it has a quite good reputation in the community.
Many Raynor Park residents spend time at the Sunken Gardens Golf Course, which is less than a mile north of the neighborhood. Others tend to prefer the Kona Kai Swim and Racquet Club, which is about the same distance in the southeastern direction.
Life in Raynor Park is a little slower than most other neighborhoods in between San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino. Though Raynor Park certainly isn’t far from the major roads, it is a little further removed than many other communities in the area. Unlike most places nearby, traffic in Raynor Park is usually restricted to those who are going to and from Raynor Park. Almost no one goes through the area, as it isn’t much of a shortcut between nearby major roads. This makes things a little less hectic than other parts of the city. Of course, Raynor Park is still definitely a city location. Even though it is minimally hectic, there’s always something going on in the area.
