Ortega Park is a medium-sized community in Sunnyvale, west of the center of San Jose. It’s densely populated and primarily residential. With an area of 0.619 square miles, it has approximately 4,300 residents. More than 70 percent of the residential buildings in the Ortega Park community are single-family, detached units, while the neighborhood also has townhouses and apartment buildings.
South Wolfe Road serves as the eastern border of Ortega Park, while North Saratoga Sunnyvale Road serves as its western border. East Homestead Road marks the southern border of the Ortega Park neighborhood, while smaller, community streets makes up its northern border.
Ortega Park, which is the namesake of the neighborhood that surrounds it, lies in the northwestern portion of the community. It’s a unique park covering 18 acres of land. With a distinctly Victorian theme to it, Ortega Park has a picturesque gazebo that residents can reserve for hosting parties or picnics. The park also has a playground for children, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, multiple use ball field, a cricket pitch, and public restrooms.
The neighborhood of Ortega Park is popular among college students. The University of San Francisco is only a mile south of the community, while De Anza College is less than two miles southwest of it. The Santa Clara Beauty College is about three miles east of Ortega Park. Mission College is four miles northeast.
The Cupertino Historical Society & Museum is a little over a mile southwest of Ortega Park. The Sands Mechanical Museum is a mile west of the community, while Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum is only a mile north.
