The Original Daly City neighborhood of Daly City, California is part San Mateo County’s largest city. Historical residents of the area include the Ohlone Indian tribe and Spanish colonists, and the area was also greatly affected by 1906 San Francisco Earthquake.
Most of the neighborhood’s middle-class residents are in their early 30s. Married couples and families reside in houses, condominiums, and apartments.
Loosely bordered by Junipero Serra Boulevard, Hillside Boulevard, and Alemany Boulevard, the community is close to highways 1, 35, 82, and 280. It is a major transportation hub served by BART, MUNI, buses, and SamTrans. The San Francisco International Airport is easily accessible by car or public transportation.
Despite its urban location, residents and tourists have access to family-friendly parks, state parks, and a national park. As a San Francisco suburb, Original Daly City is close to the 700-acre Lake Merced in South San Francisco, which activities like birding, boating, wind surfing, running, bicycling, and golfing.
As part of San Mateo County, the beaches are a popular draw. Sharp Park Beach is a quick getaway for swimming, running, golfing, hiking, boating, whitewater paddling, and fishing. Campgrounds are nearby. San Bruno State Park is known for its hiking trails, nature areas, and sightseeing. It is also ADA accessible. Activities at Montara State Beach/McNee Ranch include beach exploration and surf fishing. The Golden Gate National Recreation Area has walking, running, picnicking, and surf fishing.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in county parks. Leashes up to six feet long are required for dogs visiting state and national parks.
Original Daly City is near the Lake Merced Golf Club, Harding Park Golf Club, and the California Golf Club of San Francisco. Sharp Park also offers both golf and archery.
Original Daly City’s attractions include the Metro Center 6, Classic Bowling Center, and the Serramonte Center.
