Lakehouse is a small neighborhood, consisting of only 0.031 square miles and less than 500 residents. Despite its size, there are many things to do and see from Lakehouse, both within walking distance and a 10-minute drive to the bigger areas of San Jose.
Lakehouse is bordered to the west by South Autumn Street and to the east by Guadalupe Parkway Highway 87. Its northernmost point is West San Fernando Street, while Park Avenue serves as the southern border of the neighborhood.
Most houses in the Lakehouse neighborhood are single-family, detached units, but the subdivision also has some really old, beautiful homes. Many of the houses were built as late as the 1930s, but there was a huge boom in building up homes in the area in the 1980s as well. As a result, the area has quite an eclectic mix of home styles, from Victorian to Mediterranean style to the classic, two-story American house.
The Lakehouse neighborhood is very family-friendly. It’s especially popular with parents of young children. The Children’s Discovery Museum is only a half-mile east of Lakehouse. The San Jose Unified School District serves the families of the neighborhood. Esteemed schools for young residents of Lakehouse include Saint Leo the Great School, Notre Dame High School, Park Avenue Preschool, and Downtown College Preparatory School.
Cultural landmarks of note within a half-mile of Lakehouse are the San Jose Museum of Art and the Tech Museum. People come from all over the greater San Jose area and even the country to check out the hands-on exhibits for people of all ages at the Tech Museum. It also hosts the Hackword IMAX Dome Theater at the Tech Museum, which plays new releases and special IMAX films. Ballet San Jose is a professional ballet school that is only a half-mile northeast of Lakehouse.
