Junipero Serra is a neighborhood in San Jose, California. The neighborhood is located to the south of Interstate 280, with the major roads being Lawrence Expressway to the west and Saratoga Avenue to the east. The Junipero Serra community is a condominium community with numerous households.
The Junipero Serra community is a fairly quiet neighborhood with a number of children out playing with their friends on a regular basis. Large paved areas make it a great place for many of the area walkers, runners, and cyclists to use the miles of pavement in the area for their exercise. In addition to walking, running, and cycling there is a swimming pool that is popular with the children as well as with the adults in the community. The community center also has a fitness center that is used regularly.
West of the neighborhood is John Mise Park off of Park Meadow Drive. This hugely popular area park is used by many area youth throughout the area. The park has a large baseball field with incredibly green grass, multiple basketball courts, foursquare courts, and a large playground area. The park is beautifully landscaped with numerous trees throughout.
A few miles to the northwest of the neighborhood just off of Interstate 280 is one of the biggest shopping centers in the area. The Macy’s Cupertino Square Shopping Center is home to numerous major brand name shops. The shopping center also has numerous big name restaurants and is a popular destination for area residents who enjoy dining out. The mall also has a large ice rink that is used for area youth leagues, as well as skating lessons, and it even has a good-sized AMC movie theater.
The Junipero Serra area also has numerous schools. In addition to the many different public schools in the area, there are also quite a few private schools operated by area churches.
