The neighborhood of Gavello Glen lies just southeast of Central Sunnyvale. Although primarily residential, a number of stores are in the area as well. The most popular shopping area is the La Hacienda Shopping Center, just on the southern border of Gavello Glen. La Hacienda is just a short walk from anywhere in the neighborhood.
A number of different stores line El Camino Real Road just to the west of Gavello Glen, including several car lots. The nearby Pavlina Plaza Shopping Center can get especially busy during the day.
There are a number of great parks in the area, too. Braly Park is an excellent place to take your kids or your dog, and it is an easy walk from the center of Gavello Glen. Braly Park has a Japanese style theme to it, making it one of the most unique parks in Sunnyvale. The Sunnyvale Arboretum is one of the most beautiful parks in the city, and it is also within walking distance to the west of Gavello Glen.
Beside the arboretum is the Sunnyvale Community Center, the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum, and the stage for the Sunnyvale Community Players. All of these places are an easy walk away, making Gavello Glen a prime spot to live if you enjoy walker-friendly neighborhoods with a variety of attractions.
A common park for dog lovers, but a little too far away to be considered walkable, is Ponderosa Park. Ponderosa is similar to Braly Park, but lacks the Japanese theme. Also just outside of walking distance is the Sunken Gardens Golf Course, one of the best courses in all of Santa Clara County.
