If you like to live in the thick of things, Gardner is definitely the neighborhood for you. Centrally located at the corner of Interstate 280 and Guadalupe Parkway, Gardner is a small subdivision mixed in with a number of storefronts and restaurants right in the center of San Jose.
Nearby Biebrach Park is a huge installation that attracts residents even from surrounding neighborhoods. With basketball courts, restrooms, plenty of free space, and multiple children’s play areas, this park is well worth the 100-foot walk from the center of Gardner.
Within a two-minute drive of Gardner are more attractions. The Children’s Discovery Museum is one of the best children’s museums in the entire city. It isn’t uncommon for visitors to travel from cities 10 or more miles away just to visit this popular children’s museum.
Next door to the museum is the Guadalupe River Park and Guadalupe Gardens, which are some of the most beautiful in the city. Don’t forget to walk the Guadalupe River Trail if you come by; it is absolutely gorgeous.
The Center of Performing Arts is also extremely close by, as is the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, and many other places you’ll definitely want to visit if you live in Gardner. Of course, it’s understandable that so much is so close. This is the center of San Jose activity, right next to San Jose State University. You’ll find everything within a few blocks here, from an improv comedy club to the historic Saint Joseph’s Cathedral Basilica.
One of the most interesting things in the Gardner area is the Tech Museum. The Tech Museum is a great place to learn about all things technology, regardless of how old you are. Whether you’re interested in Silicon Valley or in splicing the genome of bacteria, the Tech Museum has something to teach you.
