The beautiful neighborhood of Cumberland South is in Sunnyvale, to the west of San Jose. It has over a thousand residents in a small area, making it fairly densely populated. Cumberland South is bordered on the south by West Remington Drive, on the west by South Mary Avenue, on the east by Hollenbeck Avenue, and on the north by Heatherstone Avenue, Harvard Avenue, and Hanover Avenue.
Several parks serve the area, including the Sunnyvale Municipal Tennis Center, Las Palmas Park, Mango Park, and De Anza Park. Each of them is exceedingly well equipped with such amenities as hiking paths, playgrounds for children, and picnic pavilions.
Sunnyvale is generally known as one of the safest cities in the United States. Forbes Magazine ranked it as the seventh safest city, when taking into account crime rates, fire prevention services, and the sheer numbers of medical emergency personnel. Sunnyvale accomplishes this by having each city officer trained in all three fields: law enforcement, fire fighting, and emergency medical technology.
Cumberland South is an especially family-friendly neighborhood. Some of the finest schools in the entire greater San Jose area are located in proximity to this community. Local schools include Sunnyvale Middle School, the Challenger School, Cumberland Elementary School, the Stratford School, Appleseed Montessori School, and New Start Fremont High School, among others.
Residents of Cumberland South have many things they can do in the area, from playing with their canine companions at Las Palmas Dog Park, laughing it up at Rooster T Feathers Comedy Club, or doing a round at the California Billiard Club.
