The small southeastern Mountain View community of Cuernavaca lies about halfway between Sunnyvale and Mountain View. Cuernavaca is bordered on the north by West El Camino Real, on the west by Stevens Creek Freeway – West Valley Freeway, and along the southeast on South Knickerbocker Drive, in a loose triangular shape.
Due to the fact that two of these roads, the West Valley Freeway and West El Camino Real, are quite major roads in the region, residents of Cuernavaca are able to easily get to wherever in Mountain View or Sunnyvale that they may wish. However, there a number of great places within a short driving distance of Cuernavaca.
The Grant Road Plaza Shopping Center, Grant Park Plaza Shopping Center, and Mountain View Shopping Center are all very close by, as well as quite a few standalone storefronts along West El Camino Real and the West Valley Freeway.
Cuernavaca is served by El Camino Hospital, just a mile to the west of the neighborhood. No parks exist within walking distance of Cuernavaca, but a number of parks still serve the community within a mile or two driving distance: Sylvan Park, Washington Park, Las Palmas Park, Cuesta Park, Cooper Park, and Mango Park.
However, each of these parks is individually quite small. For nature enthusiasts, it is generally required to have something a bit more substantial. Cuernavaca residents have access to Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, which is just over three miles to the southwest of the city. With 3,800 acres of land holding over twenty-three miles of hiking trails, Rancho San Antonio is a great place to go.
There are also a number of good schools in the area, including Cherry Chase Elementary School, Saint Cyprian School, Primary Plus Mountain View School, and Sunnyvale Christian School.
