College Park Apartments for Rent

College Park is a residential area located west of downtown San Jose. The College Park neighborhood takes its name from Bellarmine College Preparatory School, a prestigious all-male Catholic high school operated by the Jesuit order. Founded in 1851, Bellarmine is the oldest secondary school in California and is attended by 1,600 students who commute to the school from all over the Bay Area.

The Bellarmine campus covers a large portion of College Park. The remaining area of College Park is mostly residential, with the exception of a few small businesses and offices. Tree-lined streets of well-maintained, mid-century homes and older cottages surround the Bellarmine campus. A few historic Victorian homes can also be found in College Park. San Jose Market Center, a large shopping center with major banking, retail, and dining venues, is located directly to the east of College Park.

College Park is located south of the Mineta San Jose International Airport and is bounded by West Hedding Street, The Alameda, West Taylor Street, and Stockton Avenue. It includes the 95126 and 95110 zip codes. The neighborhood is ideally situated for commuters. Interstate 880, also known as the Nimitz Freeway, is just to the north of College Park and provides access to the East Bay. Also nearby is Interstate 101, which travels up the San Francisco Peninsula to the city of San Francisco. Caltrain, which makes stops at the historic College Park Train Station, offers a practical transportation alternative.

The residents of College Park have many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Guadalupe River Park, a three-mile parkway that follows the banks of the Guadalupe River, is located adjacent to College Park. River Walk, a system of trails within the park, provides scenic routes for walking, running, and biking. The Guadalupe Gardens portion of River Park contains several small parks, including Heritage Rose Garden and the Guadalupe Community Garden. Guadalupe River Park is also home to the Children’s Discovery Museum and a children’s playground and carousel.
