Cimarron, a residential neighborhood in the 95127 zip code of San Jose, California, is bordered by Gridley Street, North White Road, and Golf Drive. Mid-sized with neatly landscaped lots and wide sidewalks, Cimarron has its own neighborhood park with basketball court and playground. The Cimarron Park can be found on the southeastern edge of the neighborhood.
The neighborhood of Cimarron is within walking distance of public transportation, the Piedmont Middle School, and the Penitencia Creek Trail. The four-mile trail connects the Penitencia Creek County Park to the Alum Rock Park.
Alum Rock Park features several trails of varying degrees of difficulty plus picnic areas and two playground areas located near the visitors’ center. A Youth Science Center is located within the park. This nature-based science institute was founded in 1953. It serves about 30,000 kids annually.

To Cimarron’s west, about three miles is Overfelt Gardens Park. This city park features a wildlife sanctuary with a dirt trail. The park’s paved trail winds through the park, around the ponds and past a stream. The focal point of the park is the Chinese Cultural Garden, established and inspired in 1971 by Frank and Pauline Lowe. Today, visitors can enjoy the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, the Confucius statue, or Plum pavilion.
Cimarron is centrally located to shopping at the Country Club Villa Shopping Center, the Toyon Center, and the Piedmont Hills Shopping Center, located to the north of the neighborhood. Residents of Cimarron are about fifteen minutes east of downtown San Jose and San Jose State University. Originally a teacher’s college, the university now offers more than 130 bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
