The residents of Cadillac East occupy a special position in southwest San Jose/North Campbell. Unlike most places in San Jose, Cadillac East is far enough away from the main roads that the neighborhood doesn’t get the excess traffic that so many other neighborhoods do.
However, there are plenty of businesses in the area. West Park Plaza Shopping Center is actually within the borders of the neighborhood, while Riverside Plaza Shopping Center, Hamilton Shopping Center, and Campbell Shopping Center are all within a half-mile of Cadillac East.
There are also a lot of parks in the general area. Marijane Hamann Park, Starbird Park, Hathaway Park, Campbell Park, and the extra large John D. Morgan Park are all within a mile of Cadillac East. As you can see, despite being outside the general flow of things, there are still plenty of attractions in the area. Further, Highway 17 is fairly close by, so if you do wish to get to other places in San Jose, you can certainly do so without too much extra trouble.
Schools in the surrounding neighborhood have a strong reputation. Campbell Union, A Special Place, Bright Days, Rosemary Elementary, and Veritas Christian Academy are all less than a mile away.
If you don’t wish to go all the way to downtown San Jose, Campbell also has a large commercial district. Campbell is only a little over a mile south of the neighborhood, and it has all the amenities you might find in a small city outside of Santa Clara County. Of course, if you prefer the perks of the big city, central San Jose is only a few minutes’ drive to the north.
One quirk of the neighborhood is its highly complex and festive yard decorations during the holiday season. Many residents do their best to outdo one another when the holidays come around, attracting onlookers from surrounding neighborhoods to take in the sights.
