Sycamore South is as close to the University of California at Davis as a neighborhood can be. It is a combined residential, university, and commercial neighborhood that is bounded by Highway 113 to the west, West Covell Street to the north, Anderson Road to the east and Russell Boulevard or the university to the south.
The university and surrounding shops and restaurants are within a five-minute bike ride or a ten-minute walk from Sycamore South. Oxford Circle Park offers a frisbee golf course, a primary play area and more. Sycamore Park offers an off-leash dog park and a tot play area. A large supermarket and other shops are nearby to the north on Anderson Road.
The dining, shopping and cultural center of Central Davis is next to the university and is also a short bike ride or walk away from the neighborhood.
San Francisco, a two-hour drive to the West on Interstate Highway 80, offers residents many cultural and historical attractions. Amtrak commuter trains offer a more leisurely ride from the Davis train station. The Sierra ski country and Lake Tahoe are about two hours to the east on Interstate Highway 80 or highway 50.
