Lincoln Village is a small, tree-studded suburban area that is bounded by US Highway 50 to the north and Old Placerville Road to the south and east. It is a completely residential area that is graced with the bountiful and mature trees that are characteristic of the Sacramento area.
At about 1 square mile in size, Lincoln Village is one of the many Rancho Cordova neighborhoods that grew up around the former Mather AFB during the Space Race. After a base closure, Mather AFB quickly transitioned into an air cargo hub, business park, and major Regional Veterans Administration medical facility. Soon after, the new city of Rancho Cordova was incorporated in 2003.
The population of Lincoln Village is a mix of young professionals, older families, and retired military personnel who have a strong neighborhood association. The residents proudly identify themselves as being from Lincoln Village rather than from Rancho Cordova.
From Lincoln Village, it is easy to enjoy the benefits of Sacramento and the surrounding areas, not to mention it is an easy drive or train ride to San Francisco. With Interstate Highway 50 nearby, a trip to ski country or to Lake Tahoe is no problem.
The famous American River Parkway and Bike Trail is located to the north, and tiny Lincoln Village even has its own park for local recreation.
It only takes a few minutes to get to downtown Sacramento and to the delights that Old Sacramento offers, including entertainment, a major regional shopping center, and dining. The Watt Avenue shopping, transportation, and business corridor is even closer.
Sacramento State University and the University of California at Davis are a short distance away. For education, entertainment, and fine dining in the excellent Sacramento area gourmet restaurants, the easy access from Lincoln Village is a major benefit.
