Grande is a residential neighborhood with single-family homes and mature trees that is generally bounded by County Road 101A to the east, Anderson road to the north and west, and the Covell park greenbelt to the south. Covell Park bisects the neighborhood and provides picnic and children’s play areas.
A major supermarket and other shops are a short bike ride or walk to the west on West Covell Boulevard. A car-free overpass allows biking or walking to a second large supermarket, other shops, and the Sutter medical complex. The university is about 10 minutes south by bike and 30 minutes on foot. The fine dining, civic center, and cultural attractions of Central Davis are next to the university.
Downtown and Old Town Sacramento are a 20-minute drive to the east, offering gourmet dining and a regional shopping center.
San Francisco is a two-hour drive to the West on Interstate 80. Amtrak commuter trains offer a more leisurely ride from the Davis train station. The Sierra ski country and Lake Tahoe are about two hours to the east on Interstate 80 or Highway 50.
