Townsend/Raitt is a neighborhood in Santa Ana. It is bordered on the north by West Wiltsie Street, on the east by South Raitt Street, on the south by West McFadden Avenue, and on the west by South Sullivan Street. the community is located southwest of downtown Santa Ana. This high-density area contains lots of apartments.
There is a strong sense of community in this neighborhood. The residents, business owners, churches, and police force work together to improve the safety and security of the area. They all belong to the Townsend/Raitt Task Force.
Jerome Park is located in the southeast corner of the Townsend/Raitt neighborhood. It contains 14 acres and includes a large multi-purpose field for baseball, football, and soccer. It also has handball courts and basketball hoops. A children’s playground and a picnic area with lots of tables for families are on the premises.
Jerome Park Community Garden is a quarter-acre patch with flower gardens and local vegetables. Two hundred people belong to the garden club. Many come to Jerome Park on Saturdays to work the soil and teach children how to grow food.
Once a year, the Townsent/Raitt neighborhood has a street fiesta and resource fair. This celebration fosters a feeling of community and offers entertainment, food, and access to a variety of health care providers.
West McFadden has some pretty single-story homes that are predominantly stucco, with decorative metal fences in the front of each property. There are sidewalks, and the area is well-kept and attractive. Sacred Heart Church and School as well as the Southwest Senior Center are also located on West McFadden near Jerome Park.
Townsend/Raitt is a diverse neighborhood made up of businesses, places to dine, a trailer park, apartments, and single-family homes.
