Located just west of the planned community of Anaheim Hills, Northeast Anaheim offers residents a mixture of the urban lifestyle of Anaheim with the rural charm of Anaheim Hills. Redevelopment work done by the city has focused on creating pedestrian-friendly shopping and business areas while maintaining existing open space.
Northeast Anaheim is part of the 92806 ZIP code. It’s located in the Santa Ana Canyon, with Anaheim Hills to the southeast, central Anaheim to the west and Placentia to the north. The northern boundary of Northeast Anaheim runs a jagged path a few blocks north or south of Orangethorpe Avenue.
The majority of Northeast Anaheim is dominated by commercial real estate; however, there are several apartment complexes and condominium units along with some larger tract homes in the northeastern portion of the city. These homes tend to follow the basic feel of home in Anaheim Hills, with three or more bedrooms, one story and large front yards.
Children in Northeast Anaheim can attend schools in either the Anaheim school districts or the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District depending on their location. Sunkist Elementary and Rio Vista Elementary are within the neighborhood, while Katella High School is the most common destination for teens.
Despite the high percentage of offices and industrial complexes in Northeast Anaheim, there are several parks and other open spaces in the neighborhood. Both Pioneer Park and Rio Vista Park offer recreational facilities like sports fields, playground equipment and space for picnics and parties. Anglers can take advantage of Anaheim Lake, a private fishing ground located in the northeastern tip of the neighborhood. It offers stocked fishing with a chance for fishing novices and veterans alike to reel in a big one. The lakes are only open part time, so it’s a good idea to check in advance before making an excursion.
