The Windsong neighborhood in Torrance, California is a gated community with upscale town homes. The northern border is Monterey Street. The eastern border is Maple Street. The western and southern border is Plaza Del Amo. The residents of this neighborhood have many amenities within their neighborhood, but there is so much more, all within a short distance.
Plaza Del Amo runs between this neighborhood and the Madrona Marsh Preserve. The last vernal marsh in Los Angeles County, the Madrona Marsh is home to birds, reptiles, small mammals, and insects. The visitor center is part of this neighborhood and is a great starting point for walking the 10-acre area.
Plaza Del Amo leads residents directly to the Del Amo Fashion Center that is two blocks away. This large, well-known mall is divided by West Carson Street and locals call it the North End and the South End. Besides the indoor mall, there is an 18-screen theater and a multitude of satellite stores and restaurants.
With bus stops on Madrona, it is quite easy for the residents to get around the area. Torrance Beach is four miles away and a popular surfing area. This local beach is not as crowded as Redondo or Hermosa, and offers free parking on the street. Rancho Palos Verdes is visible from the beach and the spectacular views can be enjoyed while walking or biking on the beach path. One can almost imagine the Beach Boys writing their music at this beach as they grew up in Torrance.
For families with children, the elementary and middle schools are less than a mile away from the Windsong neighborhood.
