Residents of the Springwood neighborhood in Torrance, California, have everything they could want in their gated condo community. Springwood is bordered on the south by Plaza Del Amo. The northern border is Monterrey Street. The western border is Maple Avenue and the eastern border is another gated community in the same development. This neighborhood is in a great location.
The southwestern corner of this neighborhood meets the corner of Madrona Marsh Preserve. The Madrona Marsh is home to reptiles, small mammals, birds, and insects and is the last remaining vernal marsh in Los Angeles County. The visitor center is across the street on Plaza Del Amo and is a great place to start the walking tour of the 10-acre marsh.
Plaza Del Amo takes residents directly to the Del Amo Fashion Center. This popular and well-known mall is only two blocks away. The mall is so large, it is divided by West Carson Street and the locals define it as the North End and the South End. The Del Amo Fashion Center includes an indoor mall, an 18-screen theater, and dozens of satellite stores and restaurants. The elementary and middle schools are less than a mile away from this neighborhood.
Getting around the area is easy with bus stops on Madrona. Torrance Beach is less than four miles away and residents can catch the bus or take advantage of the free street parking. Surfing is popular at Torrance Beach and may have been the inspiration for the Beach Boys who grew up in Torrance. Residents can enjoy the spectacular views of Rancho Palos Verdes while walking or biking on the beach trails. Torrance Beach is less crowded that Redondo and Hermosa, but regardless of where Springwood residents decide to go, everything is close.
