Ocean Park is a beachfront neighborhood, bordered by Venice to the south, Santa Monica to the east and north, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Residents can easily walk to the beach to play in the sand or bike or run along ocean front trails.

While not quite as funky as its neighbor to the south, Venice Beach, Ocean Park retains an artsy feel. Main Street, the commercial artery, is made up of swank restaurants and upscale boutiques, both independent and chains. Every Sunday it plays host to a farmers’ market.

Santa Monica schools are part of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. In the Ocean Park neighborhood are the SMASH and John Muir elementary schools and Olympic High School.

Like the rest of Santa Monica, Ocean Park is a laid-back neighborhood with residents who tend to be progressive. The city recently approved plans to make Ocean Park Boulevard more bicycle and pedestrian friendly. Residents choose the area for its proximity to the ocean. The boardwalk runs south along the funky shops in Venice to Marina del Rey and north toward Malibu, along many popular California beaches.

Ocean Park is close to the Interstate 10 freeway that runs through Santa Monica, Interstate 405 and the famed Pacific Coast Highway that leads to Malibu and the rest of the state.
