Saguaro Shadows Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Saguaro Shadows community in Tucson is located on the southeast side of city and is made up mainly of fairly large wood frame homes of single-family design. The neighborhood is situated just east of Saguaro National Park, which offers residents plenty of opportunities for birding and hiking. Birds, such as cactus wrens and thrashers, are drawn to desert plants like cholla and prickly pear cactus, while the red fruit of the saguaro cactus supplies nutrition for such desert animals as coyotes, doves, bats, and javelinas. The saguaro’s white bloom, which is the state flower of Arizona, blossoms briefly in the late spring and early summer.
The Saguaro Shadows neighborhood is bounded by South Houghton Road on the east, East Old Spanish Trail on the north, South Freeman Road on the east, and East Escalante Road on the south side. Being next to a national state park makes it possible for locals to become acquainted with desert plants, such as the ironwood tree, the foliage of which has a green-gray cast and is adorned with small pale lavender flowers in the late spring.
Besides being near a natural recreational site, residents also are conveniently close to shopping. The Park Place Mall is situated to the northwest of the community, which is a large shopping complex that plays host to large retailers, such as Sears, Dillard’s, and Macy’s, as well as smaller, well-known stores, such as Abercrombie and Fitch and Banana Republic.
