Mira Bell is a neighborhood located 10 miles south of downtown Tucson, Arizona. The neighborhood is bordered on the east by South Sierrita Mountain Road, on the west by South Brandywine Lane, on the north by W. Scotland Street, and on the south by West Hunt Street. West of Interstate 19, the area is also accessed via Route 86, the West Tucson Ajo Highway. The Santa Cruz River runs nearby. The spectacular natural scenery is a draw for this neighborhood.
Mira Bell is located near Three Points, a suburban Tucson area. The area is close to the San Xavier Indian Reservation, home of the Tohono O’odham Nation. The reservation covers over 111,000 square miles and had over 2,000 residents in the 2000 census. The mission was founded by one of the co-founders of the Jesuit Order, Eusebio Francisco Kino. Built in Moorish architecture, the mission is open to the public daily for viewing of the carvings, frescoes, and statues. The Mission San Xavier del Bac is a National Historic Landmark. It was built between 1783 and 1797. The San Xavier Festival is held annually just after Easter, and it features a torchlight parade as one of the highlights of the event.
Three casinos are open to the public in this area. The Desert Diamond Casino 1 and Desert Diamond Casino II are on the San Xavier Reservation. Along with gaming, the casinos offer a buffet and live entertainment. The Golden Hasan Casino is on Highway 86 at the western edge of the reservation. Slot machines, video blackjack, and other gambling games are offered, as well as food and nightly entertainment.
