This immense park covers 91,440 acres, with 70,905 of that acreage dedicated to wilderness. The park is named for the saguaro cacti, which inhabit the area. These tall, columnar cacti reach 50 feet in height. A 2010 census of the park’s saguaros put the number at 17,000. Saguaro Park is composed of two sections, and between the two there are 165 miles of hiking trails.
The Catalina State Park lies to the north of Fetzer Ranch. This park contains 5,000 saguaros, and covers 5,500 acres. Visitors can camp, picnic, hike, bike, and bird watch. And if visitors want to rent a horse, Pusch Ridge Stables is happy to oblige.
