The University of Southern Alabama and Spring College is close to Mobile Terrace. The University of Southern Alabama is one of the fastest growing universities in Alabama. Its major contribution to Mobile is the University of Southern Alabama Medical Center. Spring College was founded in 1830 and is the oldest Catholic college in the Southeast. The liberal arts college was ranked as one of the best Southern colleges in U.S. World News & Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.”

Mobile has several historic districts which attract residents, visitors, and history buffs. The Old Dauphin Way Historic District is close to Mobile Terrace. Some homes date back to the mid-1800s and have Victorian, Cottage, and Arts and Crafts architectural styles.

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is a collection of championship golf course sites in Alabama. The trail has been hailed as one of the “biggest bargains in the country” by the Wall Street Journal and “some of the best public golf on Earth” by the New York Times. In Mobile, the 54-hole Magnolia Grove is landscaped with creeks, marshland, and lakes. Its Crossings course plays host to the Avnet LPGA Classic each spring.

The USS Alabama Historical Trail is a 6.5-mile trail for an educational walk. Visitors will enjoy strolling by city sites, beginning with the Forte Conde Museum.
