Entertainment venues are plentiful in the area. The Carmike Cinema’s Wynnsong 16 Theater is half a mile from Sheldon. Additionally, Sheldon is only two and a half miles from the Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds, which hosts several events each year. There are museums, botanical gardens, clubs, and lounges within a fifteen-minute commute from the community.

Cottage Hill Park, located four miles from Sheldon, has rest facilities, a large playground with a separate toddler playground, tennis courts, a running trail, and a large picnic area with a pavilion.

Sheldon is located within fifteen minutes of most schools and businesses within the city of Mobile, including Downtown Mobile. It is situated in a very convenient place for families commuting to work and school.
