Mobile’s Richelieu neighborhood is located just southwest of the University of South Alabama. The northeast corner of Richelieu borders the southwest section of the university. Richelieu is bounded by Old Shell Road to the north, Cody Road, also known as County Road 37, to the west, County Road 56 to the south, and Hillcrest Road to the east.

Richelieu is largely a residential neighborhood containing single-family homes. Many of the tree-lined streets within the neighborhood are tranquil with very little through traffic. Within the heart of Richelieu the streets are dead ends, which adds to the peaceful atmosphere.

Richelieu is located in the 36608 zip code of Mobile County. To the east of Richelieu about one mile is E.R. Dickson Elementary. Other nearby schools include Hillsdale Middle, Davidson High School, and Shaw High School. Less than a mile to the west of Richelieu is BC Morgan High School. This private facility offers co-ed schooling for grades 9 through 12.

With Richelieu’s proximity to the University of South Alabama, residents are only minutes to some of the best shopping, dining, and entertainment venues in the area. The University Shopping Center is situated at the southeast corner of the university. Along the northern border of Richelieu on Old Shell Road are various small businesses, cafes, and churches. Banana Docks Cafe is located in the Richelieu neighborhood near the Old Shell Road and Hillcrest Road intersection.

Golfing enthusiasts living in Richelieu are only minutes away from several of Mobile’s popular golf courses including Azalea City Golf Club, Spring Hill Golf Course, and the Country Club of Mobile.
