The University of South Alabama is less than 2 miles to the northwest of Jackson Heights and Spring Hill College is about 2 miles to the northeast.

Residents are less than 2 miles away from nearby shopping venues, including Springdale Mall, Bel Air Mall Shopping Center, and Mobile Festival Centre. Springhill Hospital is situated just north of these shopping establishments.

Approximately a half mile to the north of Jackson Heights is the Country Club of Mobile. Established in 1918, the historic 18 hole course was originally designed by Donald J. Ross and was later re-designed by other top names in the golf world. Also nearby is the Spring Hill Golf Course, an 18 hole regulation length course also enjoyed by local golf enthusiasts.
