Florence Apartments for Rent
When Ferdinand Sannoner surveyed the northwestern corner of Alabama for the Cypress Land Company, he was inspired to name the area for the famous capital of Tuscany: Florence. Located along the Tennessee River, the natural beauty of Florence is highlighted by picturesque harbors, riverfront parks, and rolling hillsides.
Florence has steadily grown since that day in 1818, but stroll along the brick-lined sidewalks of Court Street, surrounded by historical architecture and period lighting, and you may catch a glimpse of life in the mid-1800s. While exploring apartments in Florence, stop in at Pope’s Tavern, one of the oldest buildings in Florence; it once served as a hospital during the Civil War. Today it is a historic museum filled with antiques and relics. Also, be sure to see the landmark home Ivy Green, where Helen Keller was born. Then, visit the Frank Lloyd Wright Rosenbaum House – the only Frank Lloyd Wright home in Alabama.
The University of North Alabama, the state’s oldest four-year, public university – sprawls over 130 acres. The school was established in 1830 and is a top-ranking university. It is the only university to have two live lion mascots. The lions, Leo III and Una, are kept at the George H. Carroll Lion Habitat, which is located on campus.
Sports fans who rent an apartment in Florence can cheer the UNA football games at the Braly Municipal Stadium, a 14,215-seat stadium. This large stadium also hosts the NCAA Division II national football championship game.
